  • About to get with Five Guys over lunch for the first time

I'll report back with my findings.

So far, as chain burger places go in DC

    1. Shake Shack
    2. Burger-Fi
    3. no one else stands out

It's not a chain but Good Stuff Eatery by Spike Mendelson is the best "fast food" burger in DC.

Five Guys is what you'd find in every bar in Iowa.

It's a typical burger. Disappointed given the hype. Shake Shack is far superior.

I'll have to check that place out. What neighborhood?

The hype died when it went national...Sorry you missed out on when getting Five Guys in you actually meant something.

          Eastern Market.

I'm not personally a huge fan of Good Stuff Eatery but everyone else seems to love it.

Last month's Washingtonian listed the top 25 burgers in DC. I've kind of gone away from burgers since I went semi-vegetarian so I'm no longer an authority on the topic. Five Guys was always just a step up from Burger King. Never was impressed. They did have some awesome fries though.

Actually, the more I think about it, the best burgers I ever had were in the Midwest. I suppose that makes sense though. If anyone knows a good burger, it sure as fuck isn't some hipster in DC but a farmboy in Nebraska.

i would say it's more of a step up from Back Yard Burgers more than BK. I know it gets a lot of hate, but as far as burger chains go in the southeast, it's probably at the top for me. Also their kosher dogs are pretty good too.

I wouldn't eat that garbage for lunch, I don't want 6 pounds of grease in my stomach while trying to work in the afternoon.

Seriously? Their fries are absolutely dreadful.

Their cajun fries are awesome. What is wrong with you?

                        For the 1,400th time.

                        In-N-Out >>> Five Guys.

Not a fan of 5 guys. It's fine, just nothing special.

Burgerville and In and Out are the best fast food burger joints, hands down than I've been to, depending on what you order.

                            In-N-Out and 5 Guys = both mediocre.

5 Guys is okay every now and then. It would probably be a bit better if they actually cooked rather than burned their burgers. Their fries are nothing special. Hundreds of places around here have hand-cut fries and better seasonings.
