  • Do people actually like pumpkin flavored stuff this much?

I’ve noticed we’ve jumped the shark in terms of pumpkin stuff as we’ve gone from Starbucks making some garbage pumpkin coffee to literally everywhere that makes things we drink make something pumpkin flavored.

I can stomach a piece of pumpkin pie once a year (aren’t those just yams anyway) but do I want some pumpkin flavored smoothie or beer? No. Do y’all interact with these freaks that want fake pumpkin flavored crap?

I can drink a pumpkin beer from a brewery I trust or coffee in the sense that I enjoy it, and it’s the season or whatever. But I don’t really seek it out or go out of my way for it. It’s just fine.

I will do a pumpkin stout once or twice a year, but other than that, fuck no.

Starbucks is responsible for pumpkin spice lattes and pumpkin spice chai - they should be hung by their toes and flogged

Elysian has a decent 12 pack with a few darker beers. Usually a local brewery does a decent dark pumpkin. But, I’ve been seeing garbage versions since June.

Elysian makes a Pumpkin Ale, which I thought was alright.

Saint Arnold makes "Pumpkinator" which was a little better.

Wasatch's "Black O'Lantern", which again was alright.

The absolute best dark beer I ever had was by Burial Beer Co. out of Asheville. Called "Portal Beyond Nonexistence". Holy fuck that was outstanding. It's not pumpkin at all. It's an imperial stout, with chocolate and vanilla hints. Fuck now I want it again!

Elysian makes more than just that. They only come in their 12 pack though.

Southern Tier’s Warlock is one you’d like. Pumpking has a few awesome variants as well.

Alpine has a good one. Ichabod Ale.

Wicked Weed Xibalba is great but hard to find.

A weird quasi macro is Buffalo Bill’s pumpkin stout. Again, hard to find.

Yams are tubers (growth on a root, think sweet potato). Pumpkin is a fruit.

A local brewery does a sweet potato, peanut brown ale that is kinda awesome. I think they also use their own honey.
