  • I haven't watched any WWE this year...but what little I do know, is it has to be Sami or Cody. I also saw they teased Jay White on one of the social media accounts.

It’s amazing any of these guys live past 50.

        • Sami Zayn made it fun, but there was no way he was winning the title with Wrestlemania coming up.

          • So how do these titles work? Please wwesplain it to us newbies. Is fan favorite or the next senior guy or is it actually, gulp, the result of real wrestling match?

If last night suggested anything, it'll be Sami and KO vs the Usos for the tag titles.

At the most basic level, titles are little more than a plot device. They give wrestlers motivation, and provide stakes that add intrigue to storylines and matches. As far as who gets it, you generally want a guy who the fans can buy into as champ, whether they view him as the conquering hero (a'la Hogan in the 80s), or the unbearable prick who you're dying to see get what's coming to them (Reigns right now, although AEW's MJF is an even better example).

But its all predetermined, and hopefully done in such a way that it makes you want to tune into the next show to see what happens.

Its still the wrong call. You don't kill the biggest baby face your company has had since Daniel Bryan, all because you decided that Cody was your guy. You audible to what the fans are telling you they want. Sami should be in the Main Event and should be the one to beat Roman. The story is so easy. HHH had a chance to show hes better than Vince, and failed miserably.

This is where I'd disagree with you on WWE for once. Don't change the ending to the story being told. WCW did that with Sting vs. Hogan and look what happened.

Sami is this generation's Mick Foley. KO & Sami can have their moment (which might actually main event Night 1), and Sami can win MITB in London.

We will have to disagree. This would be akin to AEW having Hangman lose to Omega in Virginia, but have him team up with a friend to take down the pesky Young Bucks! It'd be WCW having Hogan beat Luger. It'd be WWE having Daniel lose to HHH and putting the title on Batista. Its the wrong call. You don't ice the hottest single act you have just because you overpaid for Cody. Now Im not saying Sami should have won in Montreal. Im saying he should have won the Rumble and had the angle continue in Montreal. Fans are not going to go crazy for the Cody win. Its a total failure.

The only thing I didn't like his the finish was changed from Jey kicking Zayn to cost him the title to a chair beatdown.

Although that adds more plot points with Jey.

But we both know those are some of the loudest pops in WWE we've heard in what, 20 years? Sami's chairshot to Smackdown Friday night, all the way to the moment YOU THINK Sami is going to win after the superman punch and helluva kick, only for Roman to kick out.

                        • So RAW starts off with KO telling Zayn to fuck off- good, build tension between the two.

And then Zayn gets jumped by Baron Fucking Corbin. LMFAO

                          • Randomly saw one of those "Check out this insane card" tweets from the 80s that was just loaded with Hall of Famers, which made me want to go back to find the card from the one WWF house show I've been to so I could see if it was worth a shit because I couldn't remember every match.

                            Augusta Civic Center - Sept. 25, 1999

IC champ Jeff Jarrett > The Godfather
Hardcore champ Al Snow > Hardcore Holly
                            Women's champ Ivory > Jackie
                            Mark Henry > D-Lo Brown
Crash Holly > Chaz (this must've been right after Beaver Cleavage)
                            Davey Boy Smith > Test
Kane > Big Show (LMFAO @ having him lose basically in his hometown)
Christian & Edge > Matt & Jeff Hardy, the Dudley Boyz and the Acolytes
                            The Rock > Chris Jericho

It was right after Jericho's debut and I was a HUGE Rock fan, so the hype was big for 13-year-old me
