  • Heartlanders assemble!

I'm in the St Paul area this week for work. The MN state far is apparently in our area and starts Thursday. Naturally, being from the NE I have no idea what I'm in for outside of food on a stick and fried everything. Assuming I don't have a heart attack while training my arteries in the first half of the week I just have a couple basic question. What's proper attire, and etiquette at one if these events? As a rookie to these fairs what advice would you give?

    1. wear clothes
    2. eat food, drink beer, people watch like a private investigator, watch out for the townie women.

      Isn't MN a bit far north? I mean...Heartland? Really?

I think we need a clear definition of Heartland states.

I've been in the midwest for 40 years and I think I've been to one state fair back in Nebraska when I was a kid. Hell, I don't even know where they hold it in Kansas.

            Maryland is, of course, incorrect:

It's good to know where most of the fat faggots congregate.

I'm bringing at least a 6-pack of Surly Furious home with me.

You've lived in the concrete jungle too long.

Somehow my arteries did not turn to stone. Deep fried snickers bars and pickles are surprisingly good. Maple syrup and bacon funnel cake is predictably amazing.

After that experience it's kale and turkey salads for dinner all next week.
