LOL at daCat siding with China just because a Democrat stood up for Taiwan. I mean, it was expected, but still LOL.

Trump - gets tons of patents and trademarks approved for Ivanka's clothing line, starts coddling China and helping them muddy the message on their concentration camps while foolishly trying to get a favorable trade deal done when he had zero leverage.

Biden - helps pass CHIPS to restart US microchip manufacturing after a shortage from China denied DPR a PS5 for 2 years and gives those commies the finger re: Taiwan.

daCat - Biden is compromised by China, unlike Trump.

So, I’m confused. Wait… never mind. Ugh.

I don't really care who's compromising who at this point, I just think we need to look at the situation objectively as citizens of a (mostly) free country. Do we want to do business with and facilitate the reign of an ethnonationalist, fascist state ala Nazi Germany, or should we pivot away from that and seek to do as much business as possible with like minded countries? I support the latter 100%, and I give a lot of props to the American companies that have moved their manufacturing over here and started building plants on American soil. We don't need to sell our collective souls to make a dime off of these assholes, let them rot until their government collapses and then when a democracy inevitably emerges in its place, resume business and start helping to rebuild.

And yes, I know that our economy and China's are extremely interdependent right now, and that we've spent decades doing the opposite of what I'm saying. None of that is an argument against doing what's right while we still have time.

Ironically, Biden is doing what Trump said he'd do re: manufacturing.

And good for him. I knew Intel has big plans in central Ohio for a chip factory, I just hope they all pull out of that shit hole so we can move beyond their bullshit and let them rot.

These comments always make me laugh, because it always reveals when someone doesn't understand basic economics. Wages are such a ridiculously small part of the price you pay for an item like a processor that they're barely even worth considering. Not only will these products be manufactured better and by local people, but they'll be competitively priced, because that's what these companies have to do in order to stay in business.

Now does that mean the fat is going to be trimmed elsewhere to make room for this new reality? Probably, but the good news is, every major corporation could save millions overnight by doing away with entirely worthless parts of their business. The company I worked for previously was literally billions in the hole and didn't give a single fuck, because as long as they're increasing their market share, the investors are happy.

Well we've been fed lies by the Repubs that if we raise the minimum wage to 15 everything is gonna get expensive

                  We call this inflation

What's really going to blow your hair back is when you realize that inflation should be far worse than it is, and the only reason it's not is because of hoarding and wage suppression. What, do you think guys are coming up with a half a trillion dollars these days because they're just that smart?

Disagree with what? I'm merely pointing out that her visit didn't help Taiwan. Like,,, at all. That has nothing to do with what WE as a country should be doing.

I have no idea what prompted this bullshit.

I have nothing for China but a giant raspberry.

And as far as more government corporate welfare to chip companies. I'm sure a name change is in order for Solyndra.

I was saving that for the political corruption in the Big Pharma thread. Would this also be a good place to bring up the Clinton's Haitian aid corruption?

Maybe John McCain's connection with the building and loan fiasco?

                              Or the Enron debacle?

                              the list is never ending.
