Laguna Chutch shooter had 2 handguns. "One man, 52-year-old “hero” Dr. John Cheng, tackled the gunman and was shot and killed in the process, the sheriff said."

Buffalo Shooter had a Bushmaster XM-15 with extended magazines and body armor. At some point, an armed security guard, former Buffalo Police Department officer Aaron Salter Jr., shot at him. Due to the shooter's body armor, Salter's bullet did not stop him. The shooter returned fire at Salter, who died at the scene.

We shouldn't be forced to have to charge and subdue a gunman while getting groceries, going to church, going to see a movie, etc.

Only one person was killed in Laguna because the shooter had to reload. Imagine if you had ARs that could only hold 6 bullets. But I'll wait for DSMoney to drop some gun knowledge on this board about muzzle velocity and bullet caliber and how AR15 is only a scary looking version of a semi automatic hand gun.

I don't know what to say other than its time to come down hard on gun nuts. There are a small number of vocal people holding the rest of the country hostage. They say there are 400M guns in the US - but I bet you that they are owned by a minority of americans.

We need to just accept the fact that we'll one day likely be put in a situation where we'll be in an active shooter scenario and we all should have to know how to subdue a gunman. You know, instead of just banning a bunch of the weapons that these terrorists use. No, that would mean folks like DSM can't go skeet shooting or whatever useless fucking hobby they have.

I’ve had to watch active shooter scenarios for training at an old job. The first thing you’re taught to do — this training was administered by an ex-FBI field agent, who knows his shit — is run. Forget the heroics part. Your first instinct is to flee. Here’s the thing. It’s not always safe to be part of the herd. You’re part of a much bigger target. If possible, use your surroundings and try to get as much cover and space as you can. Which brings us to option 2, which is hide, if there’s no way to flee. If neither of these options are available, you use anything you can use to throw, beat or bludgeon the attacker. Again, given our herd mentality, it’s more likely that others will join if they see someone else lead the charge.

You’d think this would be mostly common sense. And sadly, in terms of probability, the first hero to rush the gunman often pays the price. Most of us just aren’t hardwired to be heroes. That’s why we’re not (good) cops or the like.

I watched a video where the guy who rushed the shooter head on got killed, but two others rushed him from the sides and disarmed him. These were normal shoppers. But, I guess the moral is, don’t be a hero unless you’re okay with dying.

Nothing like telling your significant other and family in the event of a mass shooting here is what you do.

Yes, instead of restricting access to Rambo's personal arsenal for the every day American, we should instead rely on every day Americans, strangers to each other, to immediately band together and take down an active shooter, some willingly sacrificing themselves for the betterment of others.

On May 15, 2022, a mass shooting occurred at Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Woods, California, United States. One person was killed, and five others were injured, four of them critically. A person was taken into custody.

There were about 30 people inside the church at the time, many of them of Taiwanese descent, according to Orange County Undersheriff Jeff Hallock.
