We have fucking idiots like Joe Manchin on one side who can't see that if the bill goes down everybody goes down and then utter retards who can't do the senate math on the other side like Jayapal (a fucking dottie), Ro Khanna (another dottie), AOC (looks like a dottie).

The GOP's main play today isn't to make the stimulus bill better, it is to convince Murkowski not to vote for it so that they can claim it isn't bipartisan and use it to attack Biden.

(Democrats did not do this to Donald John Trump on either stimulus bill in 2020)

This is a wonderful dance. Klain is downplaying the positive job numbers from today that is objectively good news for the Biden administration. Republicans will probably hype these numbers. Why? Because Republicans want to tank the stimulus bill and saying "we don't need it, look at how great things are" is their best bet.

So Republicans will push that things are great under Biden just to tank this bill. If they say things are terrible under Biden, then they'll have to reckon with sabotaging a bill that will improve things. I dunno, I find this kind of neat.

        • They certainly seem to think killing this bill, to take away a Democratic victory, is their only real plan. I’m guessing their analytics tell them that their constituents will either forgive them or simply not care.

To those voters, let me be clear: If you reward Republicans for screwing you in order to screw the Democrats, your priorities are in the wrong place. You’re voting against your own self-interests just to be a good soldier, for those who really don’t care about you at all.

Or in other words, welcome to Politics in today's age. Because overall, that is how it's been on both sides for years now.

            • GOP Sen. Ron Johnson, who forced the reading of the entire 628-page Covid-19 relief bill on the Senate floor yesterday into this morning, says he knew there was a time agreement for three hours of debate.

He now vowed to introduce 100 amendments to the bill to essentially deny Americans from getting relief before March 15.

Literally fuck this guy. Fuck you GQP

Actually not, because most things the Republicans propose AREN'T IN ANYONES BEST INTEREST, UNLESS YOU ARE WEALTHY, WHITE OR PREFERABLY BOTH. Nice try though. Let's see, pushing to limit the people that can vote, doesn't help anyone. Finding trillions in tax cuts for the wealthy, while blocking minimum wage increases that have been long overdue, doesn't help anyone. The GOP has made it clear through decades of action(or inaction) that they aren't concerned in the least with helping anyone. They don't care. What the GOP cares about is holding onto power, and they've come to the realization that a system that doesn't work helps them maintain said power. They know their base won't go anywhere because "Socialism", and they know that liberals and left leaning moderates are far too quick to throw anyone under the bus when things don't magically happen. Liberals and left leaning moderates stay home, GOP wins enough to stay relevant and keep the cycle going.

You didn’t have to throw white in their. Republicans are not in white people’s best interests either. Some white people just think they are.

                  • Sorry theBHMAguy, I know you're a rational guy, but I'm really sick of the BOTH SIDES argument.

Yes, both sides are fuck ups, but one side is REALLY fucking it up in an insidious way and the other is just sort of fucking it up. It wasn't always that way, but in the Trump era, it's changed to the kind of shit we saw at the Capitol building.

                    • The GOP is at a crossroads. They aren’t asking the right questions. They don’t seem to have any genuine concern as to why they lost in 2018 or in 2020. They do seem very much concerned with currying the favor of Trump. I’m guessing they believe Trump will still get 75,000,000 votes in 2024 but that the Democrats will get less. Or something like that. I also think they’re laying the blame at voting-by-mail. Rather than asking themselves how to take better advantage of this, they’re just trying to find ways in which to kill it. No one seems willing to ask, “Why did we lose,” because they already know the answer. They just don’t like the answer.

For some whites, as long as POC are "Kept in their place", it works for them. I'm sorry but when 70+ million people refuse to see naked bigotry and anti-democratic ideals as a deal breaker, it's safe to say that they most likely tacitly agree with those viewpoints.

I get that, and I get your points
here. But it’s a certain type of white person. Not “wealthy or white or preferably both”. It’s “wealthy or racist white person or preferably both”.

In 2021 the Dems are a typical traditional dumbass American political party that is somewhat well intentioned and somewhat corrupt to big donors. I agree with many of the ideas of certain wings of the party but they certainly have some very frustrating flaws as a whole.

The Republicans bow at the alter of the fucking Trump family which have been destructive and useless sacks of shit since the 80s, flaunt their lunacy, and only care about appeasing Dear Leader to the point where people that were fairly close to being executed by his supporters still don’t disavow him. It wild where we’re at. The current version of the Republican Party needs to be slaughtered and skull fucked.

Yes we are all imperfect in our own ways. Democrats seem to want to help people I just disagree with how they want to do that. Republicans don't seem to want to help people they just want power.

Democrats are dumb. Republicans are aggressively stupid.
