I never said the person person voting actually benefited from their vote, I said they perceived they were voting for their best interests. I am also not only talking about presidents. I'm talking about voting in your HOA for rules that keep property values up. Voting against local tax hikes that affect you, but for which you wouldn't benefit. Ie: not caring if your politicians pass laws raising taxes on luxury goods you never use tobacco (assuming you don't smoke), but voting against tax hikes on alcohol (assuming you drink)...etc...

Everybody does it, and denying it only makes you look like trojan.
Stay on topic, we are talking about the POTUS. Keep the goal posts in place if you can. Those idiot trump supporters at the bottom of his totem poll thought they were getting something out of it. Don't get what I said twisted because you're wrong about your assumptions as to why people vote. They really thought reality tv douche was gonna "save their country". That was a gain in their eyes. He was "that guy" that could get it done, according to him and them.

Look like trojan? Lmao, I guess I hit a sore spot. Toughen up pussy.

Dude, you sound like those "real socialism has never been tried people". My point was never solely about POTUS, it was about human nature and the fact that true altruism is so rare it's notable whem it actually happens.

ITS NOT SOCIALISM IN THE CLASSICAL SENSE.

LIKE CHINA ISN'T COMMUNIST IN THE CLASSICAL SENSE. China has the 2nd largest number of billionaires after the US. (India is number 3 ahead of Germany, UK and Japan)

I get your modified Ayn Rand via Friedrich Nietzsche argument. I’ve made it. It essentially asks the question: can humans act in a way that is not in their own self-interest? And, if you want to distill this down until we’re talking reptile brain type shit? Perhaps not. You could likewise contort things into ethical knots, and arrive at the conclusion that everyone always gets something out of even the most benign acts.

I’ve evolved on this. I think that altruistic acts happen a bit more than some people seem to think. I also don’t believe humans are all intrinsically transactional beings by nature. But, that’s certainly the case for those whom advocate for unfettered capitalism. Which has been tried — and has been just about as successful — as pure socialism.
