Maybe. Personally, I have to think someone in the President’s orbit told him that, if mail-in voting were to become a thing, it would not benefit him. Perhaps he still thought he would win, although announcing your evil scheme before the election even happened does not speak to his confidence.

Mail-in ballots was such a success in California they are thinking of making it a permanent thing.

So presidential pardons are quite broad and limitless in scope. You can get pardoned for any past, current or future criminal judgement or lawsuits.

The law is a bit murky on self-pardons - because you cannot be the judge and the plaintiff in the same case. So Trump might not be able to pardon himself. The only way he gets immunity from future federal prosecution is if he resigns and Pence is installed as president and pardons him.

Republicans have been trying to disenfranchise voters for generations. Be it by closing polling stations altogether or moving them prohibitively far from places like college campuses and the “wrong parts of town”, they have waged a concerted effort to maximize voters in regions they feel will vote Republican and minimize votes from areas that are less likely to do so.

Mail-in voting could help to undo all the malfeasance and electoral fuckery that they’ve put into plafe over the years. It’s really that simple. That’s one reason Republicans are not opposed to Trump’s war on mail-in voting.

              Another messy divorce for Donald.

                    FYP

Lankford just came out and said we don't know who won the election. The entire Republican Party needs to be cleansed.

Here’s a nugget of Trumplogic from one of his lawyers.

Now, correct me if I’m wrong here, but in my mind, that’s not how this works. I’d guess anyone who watched any legal drama made ever, who picked up a Grisham novel and read the back cover or... you know... someone who went to University of Richmond Law School, would know the most basic tenets of the justice system. Trump is the one accusing wrongdoing. The onus is therefore on him to prove his case, with actual facts.

I’ll give this girl credit. If you’re going to whore yourself out to get ahead, this beats... uh... giving head.

He can. But, as he’s going in under the banner of healing and inclusion, that might send a mixed message.

I agree. Biden will have to do some degree of cleaning house. Every President does. But, Biden is going to have to do a balancing act. He has pressure on all sides.
