  • ODT: 2024 Elections

MIght as well start this one.

Democrats: BIden doesn't run for a second term anointing Harris as the incumbent candidate for the dems
Repubs: If Trump runs - there's nobody else going to survive the primaries - if he doesn't then Repubs will go with Kasich or Rubio or heck the Gov. of Massachusetts.

Outcome: Repubs win if Trump doesn't run - Dems win if he does.

Kasich is not getting nominated. The republicans literally hate him because hes one of like 5 conservatives who didn't shill for Oompa Loompa.

The GOP is both frightened and infatuated with Trump’s MAGA horde. If they don’t at least put up a façade of loyalty, his base will turn on them. They also want to harness that base for their own campaigns. So again, they have to pay homage to Trump. That’s the only thing that explains their sycophantic mewling.

Someone named Trump will run along with, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Nikki Haley, maybe Cotton or Hawley, and perhaps a governor or two.

All those people will be steamrolled before Iowa will even cast a single vote.

I agree. Although, it might be flip-flopped. Maybe. I think Trump’s plan — outside of staging a coup — is to cement his MAGA brand as a viable third party, effectively causing a schism in the Republican Party. That is, of course, assuming that he can’t successfully rebrand the party in his image. As Romney stated, Trump is not one to ride off into that good night.

That would be great - split the republican vote and become the permanent minority party.

Are. You. Not. Fucking. Paying. Attention?

Trump just got 70,000,000 votes. In an election that, for any other politician, would have ended in resounding rebuke, Trump exceeded his numbers from 2016. Take a moment for that to sink in. 70,000,000 people in our nation just told us that he did a great job and they want 16 more years of the guy.

Joe Biden won — theoretically — on being the elder statesman. But, what Bantha fodder will the Democrats run in 2024? Will they have the ability to overcome four years of pissed-off MAGA folks with a chip on their shoulder the size of Texas?

No. You don’t understand. Politicians are a self-serving lot. They’re mostly concerned with preserving their own political power. Trust me when I say this, we don’t want this to happen. While vile in many ways, Republicans have, at this point, simply had to pay lip service to Trump. They know he’s going away eventually. If the schism caused by Trump takes root, the Republican Party vanishes and is replaced by a much darker version of itself.

Except Trump is a burn down the building type of guy if he doesn't get his way. He has commandeered the republican party and he's willing to mow down Cruz or Rubio or hell even Barr if they stand up to him. We have not seen the last of him - which is a good thing for the democrats.

We'll keep riding Trump's ass as long as it pays dividends at the polls - getting blacks and women riled up

Dude I think you misunderstood me.

If Trump remains relevant to the MAGA crowd nobody else has a shot of winning. Trump will lose in 2024 to an 82 year old Biden
If the others GOPers want to win - they have to shiv Trump in the back - after all where are these 71M MAGA voters gonna go? They have to either stay at home or vote for the republican.

You have a plebeian understanding of politics.

And you think repubs have some 3D chess game plan here? They are scared of crossing Trump - basically going good doggie - good doggie while frantically looking for a rock to bash his head in with.

Im surprised that none of the TV folks have presented this scenario to repubs - take care of trump now or be losers in 2024 again.

2020 isnt even over yet, and the tribes are going into 2024 mode.

And they wonder why the divide keeps growing.
