          In terms of contract law, the prevailing rule is that if you mailed something and the post office stamped it on or before the due date, it counts as on time. So if you have to mail back a notarized letter to whoever by March 15 and it is postmarked by March 15, it counts as on time.

          Voting is the one exception (except for asshole landlords) where this does not apply universally.
