Steve Schmidt was McCain's chief campaign advisor - he's the one who plucked Sarah Palin out of obscurity. Michael Steele was instrumental in getting all the Teabagger RNC house candidates elected.

Perhaps in 2008 you were too busy chasing girls in band camp to remember how the Tea party got started. These guys are just doing a mea culpa after seeing the bloodbath in 2018 - they have seen that the repubs will become a permanent minority party if they dont change

Biden is being brought in to clean up Trump's covid, economic and foreign policy mess just like Obama was brought in to clean up W's mess with the economy and the wars.

If the country goes back to electing a Republican any time soon - we're going to be in a perpetual cycle of repubs fucking up and democrats being brought it to clean up. The republican party needs to be blown up - all the cock suckers like Graham, McConnell, Ron Johnson, Kennedy, Cruz, Paul, Rubio all need to be ground up for cat food. What we need are more sensible guys like the Republican Gov fo MA or Maryland or Kasich or the guys from the Lincoln project to take control of the republican party so that it can become the party of science, freedom for all people - women/gays/immigrants and you fucks can have your pet projects like low taxes and small govt but for god's sake get off the abortion, healthcare and the environment issues - they are losers for you

Literally all I had to do was search for “kill white people” and I found three of these in like 30 seconds. Feel free to do it yourself and play with keywords, let me know what you find.
You're looking up Twitter randos? The first two don't say anything about killing white people. The third is a reference to Black Panther.

What am I supposed to be concerned about here?

I don't think anyone is expecting Biden to be an A+. I think he'll be alright and a massive upgrade from Trump, so he's got my vote (and volunteer time).

I don’t know, probably the fact that thousands of tweets just like this and far worse are written every day, and despite being reported quite often, are rarely taken down or the people who post them punished. Replace the word white with black in any of those posts and you’re 100% banned, and possibly doxxed and fired depending on how high profile you are. Twitter’s response to all of this? Nothing.

Would you be doxxed? I dunno, I guess I just don't give a shit about any of that.

Facebook has let QAnon, Pizzagate and countless other violent conspiracy theories thrive over the years, so these tweets are pretty mild to me. It took reddit forever to ban some of their more racisty and violent subs. I guess I'm saying I've seen this shit for years and it is hardly unique to any one group.

                    I don’t use Twitter, it’s a shit show.

There’s a big difference between wild conspiracy theories and openly using racial slurs without consequences. If you go around dropping the N bomb on any of these platforms you will 100% be banned, but if you spread bigoted shit about white people? No punishment. Hell, there’s professors from prestigious universities that have said fucked up racist shit and received no punishment whatsoever, because as long as it’s about white people, it’s okay.

The only way you don’t see this is if you live in a cave or if you’re blind. Thing is though, you do see it, you just don’t give a shit because all you care about is your side winning.

The GOP currently has legal power, but they have absolutely no cultural or social influence. What this means is that any attempt they make at challenging the status quo (ie neoliberalism masquerading as socialism when it’s convenient) is ultimately futile, because all of the influence in society rests in the hands of their opponents.

Trump is out of office in a few months, so what you’re talking about is basically old news. He has less than no chance at winning at this point, so it’s time to start thinking about what comes next. We don’t want to trade one piece of shit for another.

You and I both know the NY Post is an outlier, don’t be ridiculous.

Yes, social media companies should be regulated, and no, that’s not authoritarian. People on the left are always talking about the constitution being a living document and how it should be open to interpretation, but suddenly that no longer applies when their stranglehold on the internet is challenged. We have regulations for every kind of communication known to man, and yet for some reason, social media companies should get a pass. How conveniently libertarian of you.

And they should. Just like Amazon and Google should be chopped into 10 pieces. These companies have way too much power and influence, and I’m tired of them leveraging it for personal gain. It’s bullshit.

I'm going to have to take exception with this. Silicon valley is heavily neoliberal. There may be a few leftists, but the vast majority are more like Travis Kalanick or Adam Neumann. And that's leaving aside the Peter Thiel and John McAfee types who aren't any kind of left.

I don’t read these people that much. I really only know of Greenwald and Taibbi. Greenwald has an ideological bent he won’t admit to and agendas he doesn’t disclose. He was an attorney turned political blogger turned “journalist”. He is unorthodox in his politics. He sometimes sounds right-wing and at others left-wing. He is always anti-establishment. He kind of reminds me of Gore Vidal.

I think his anti-establishment and criticism of US foreign policy leads him to criticize Democrats on Russian links to Trump etc. I mean they did go from chastising Romney to Russia stole the election. As I read it he thinks Democrats are playing up Russia and rising tensions for domestic politics. Greenwald is good for an unconventional take but I rarely come away agreeing with him.

I know less of Taibbi. I think he had journalistic questions about some of the Russian links to the a Trump campaign/admin reporting. Also it’s acceptance by Democrats. He seems to be rather unconventional as well.

There's a lot of nuance in the story that I'm not going to get into, but let's remember the following: There are a lot of journalists that despite the damage Trump is doing to the country wants him to win and are willing to do his bidding. Why? Because Trump brings chaos and chaos brings eyeballs and money. Period. There's a difference between holding those in power accountable, and being contrarian for the sake of it. Journalists are scared shitless of Trump whining about being picked on, so they dig for crap on Biden, which means that poorly researched trash is given space just to further the "Both Sides" narrative which directly helps Trump.

There's no rational way to read Trump's actions and what can't be denied factually and conclude anything other than Trump and Putin are buddies and it all revolves around money. When you have a POTUS that could possibly owe creditors more than 1 BILLION dollars you have to look at decision making and whether that person is compromised. One of the best quotes about this came from a former Trump administration official "I don't think that Trump could get a security clearance if he wasn't POTUS". Why? Because we all know that a compromised person will do anything to save themselves.

This is my argument to Hookems on media bias in favor of Trump.

Greenwald is, to me, obviously pro-Russia. Trump is weak on Russia so he prefers Trump. Biden is promising to be harsh on Russia so he is desperate to take Biden down.

Now, why is Glenn so pro-Russia? I honestly don't really understand it. Putin is incredibly anti-LGBT (Glenn is gay) and obviously anti-media (Glenn is a reporter). He's as authoritarian as they come outside of maybe Xi or Duterte. So why is Glenn so adamant about defending Russia? Is it because they are harboring Snowden? Is it something else?

Taibbi is also fervently pro-Russia for reasons I cannot understand. These people openly lie about Russia's involvement in hacking American institutions and cast Democrats as hysterical idiots screeching "muh Russia narrative".

The weird thing is that almost all evidence and motive belongs to Russians hacking the DNC in 2016. There is as much evidence showing they hacked the DNC as OJ killing Nicole. Yet because we don't have smoking gun evidence of the direct link, they are desperate to say Russia didn't do it and it must have been someone else. Glenn and Taibbi would have us believe OJ is actually innocent and Russia didn't hack the DNC.
