What you’re not getting is that being a gun teetotaler doesn’t work either. Your all-or-nothing play is a logical quagmire.

And don’t get me started about your false equivalency. Nuclear , and especially not chemical weapons, are not commensurate with handguns and rifles.
If guns were banned I swear to god I wouldn't know the first thing about going down to South Central and asking some darkie hoodlum about buying an illegal gun. So bottom line is that most people wouldn't know the first thing about buying illegal guns - not to mention getting entrapped by the cops or the FBI.

You do realize that all those yahoos who plotted to kidnap the Gov of Michigan bought bomb making materials and ammo from an FBI informer.

    According to Wiki:

However, the FBI's confidential source for the investigation said that participants met for weapons exercises in Cambria, Wisconsin, between July 10 and 12, with Croft, Garbin, and a militia member attempting to make an improvised explosive device (IED) on July 11, though the device was defective. Franks also brought a rifle equipped with a silencer, firing it at the time.[51]

You're usually more logical than this. But this is some trojan level idiocy here. If you're not enforcing the laws, then how do you know the laws wouldn't work?

Take my example from my post to Nash. Because it is pretty much what you just did here. "We don't know why the current laws aren't working, so we need to make more laws that may or may mot work".

FTR, no rational person opposedoppocurrent gun control measures aren't against more laws, we just don't want more restrictions against us when we see the current laws not being enforced. Here's some numbers for you.

      https://www.king5.com/article/news/i.../281-352511600

      https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/21/us/gu...nvs/index.html

Even Obama admitted we weren't enforcing the laws we have.

      https://www.cnn.com/2016/01/09/polit...gap/index.html

This article brings up a pretty valid point about the lack of funding being a part of thr problem. Something that I have said is needed in almost every debate about gun control. But when 99.9% of people that commit a crime don't get prosecuted, it's pretty stupid to say that asking for better enforcement of the law is "not getting it".

Here's the reason why I, and many others are opposed to new gun control laws. It's because we don't want another NFA scenario where stuff gets heavily regulated and it doesn't do anything. When it's proven to have had no effect, they don't give us those rights back.

Sarin is easy, you can make that shit in your garage. Nukes are a little more difficult, primarily because what's needed to make one is damn near impossible to obtain. You can make a firearm with stuff from a hardware store. How about you, for once in your life, make a rational argument.

Dude - the average guy - you fucking idiot. The average guy who wants to knock off a convenience store - that guy. Hell even the fucktards who stormed the Capitol - the fucks who fucking flew in private jets wouldn't be able to make a nuke or chem / bio weapons.

          • We've been saying this for the better part of 2 centuries in regards to policing. The ONLY difference is that now we have video evidence of what is going on. The sad part is that we still have people that are willing to lick the boot of these people, just because they are scared shitless of crime, which a lot of these cops do a piss poor job of fighting to begin with. Reub once said that the average American thinks a cop is like a Superhero, running between rooftops to catch perps, when in reality, the typical cop is just sitting in their squad car, serving as a glorified revenue agent.

Until we completely revamp what law enforcement does, nothing will get better. Until we stop pretending that our law enforcement apparatus isn't built to subjugate citizens like myself, nothing will change. Until we admit that it is unacceptable that the typical police officer gets less training than my barber(and even the barber has to do continuing education yearly), nothing will change.

Okay. First, you get yet another warning. This time, for the racist word you used above. You’ve been skirting the racist line for a while. With this, you crossed a line. Not gonna fly.

Exactly. It’s not that things just, all-of-a-sudden, get drastically worse. On the other hand, our ability to capture these type of actions, on the part of the police, did.

                  Because camera phones.

As this technology became cheaper, it proliferated downward, and is now ubiquitous in nearly every community... even very poor ones.

                  • Windsor police chief 'owns' how soldier's traffic stop unfolded, but doesn't think apology is owed

                    https://amp.progress-index.com/amp/7226709002

Riddle called the ensuing actions "a teachable moment' in how noto handle such issues in a calm manner. "That was inappropriate and created unnecessary fear in Mr. Nazario," Riddle said.

At one point in the video, Nazario was heard saying he was "afraid" to get out. Gutierrez responded, "You should be."

"That was inexcusable," Riddle said of Gutierrez's comment.

Gutierrez, a field training officer for the seven-person Windsor police department.
So their field training officer is the one who told the citizen that he should be afraid to comply with the police orders to get out of the vehicle? Great polce work there. Totally on the 2LT for his failure to comply apparently.

Do cops generally ask people to get out of cars for improper registration? Isn't that like a citation?

This is something that not nearly enough people know about. The amount of training that police get to initially get the badge is terrifyingly little. And their ongoing training usually involves going to the gun range and learning how to shoot perps if needed. Minimal de-escalation training.

I've been saying that even if you give police all the training they are going to remain human and humans will make errors in judgement - whether its is in use of deadly force or doing a background check on who gets a gun and who doesn't.

Police are not going to admit it because it's not PC but they would much rather have people disarmed and always have the upper hand in dealing with the public.

                        • Next up - Adam Toledo of Chicago. Police shot him dead as he put his hands up. He was 13 years old. Prosecutors initially said he was armed, which is funny since he wasn't. There was a gun nearby that he may have had in his possession earlier, but when he was shot he was absolutely unarmed and complying with the cop's order.

                          They shot him anyway.

Not sure which is my favorite part: that the cop asks the child where he's shot as if he weren't the one who had just done it or the media jumping to the police's defense talking about how valiantly they tried to save the child's life by doing chest compressions on a sucking chest wound.

I didn't watch the full video as I didn't want to watch a poor 13 year old dying. That's fucking horrifying.

What I did see was the initial shot, and both of his hands in the air. I also saw that the police and prosecutors lied (in official documents!) about the shooting. So that's pretty cool.

I wonder how many cops have perjured themselves in court to get a guilty verdict on a person who may or may not have been guilty? Gotta be in the thousands in just the last year alone.
