American capitalism is the same as national socialist economics. When have I compared anything else to Nazis?

I meant it as in “you guys”, not you specifically. And don’t be so sensitive, you know you’re my favorite commie.

I appears its improved over the initial version. Still could have been better.

I'm okay with some bailout for the airlines somewhat but I'm not so sure about helping them with unrelated issues on their books. For example if some airline are going to buy back $5 billion in stock in January and then demand $25+ billion in bailout money or you will start laying people off. I would have all sorts of regulations on buying back stock, corporate bonuses, make sure they don't lay anyone off, etc. Lots of them are probably using the money just to make their books look better after having to ground 737 max planes.

I'm not sure why we have to bailout the cruise line industry. They operate out of Miami but are other countries for tax purposes. To my mind they aren't American companies then. Also how many actual Americans do they actually employ? Cruise ships are not exactly vital industry or transportation. Why should we treat them any different than say theme parks?

It isn't really. It's where people make bets on what they think is going to happen. So lots of psychological factors and perceptions are at play. Value resides where people think it does to modify a line from Game of Thrones.

It shows that all of those jobs can be replaced one way or another. The jobs that were lost in 08 weren't replaced by meaningful long term work. Being a slave bot with no benefits for Uber make the unemployment numbers and Nasdaq look good sure. Does it signal a healthy economy? No.
This is all correct. We have a lot of jobs that are gigs not meaningful long term work. We are primarily service industry vs actual goods industry.

I do hope this will force some sort of return of actual goods industry. We need factories in this country or at least in the Americas to make PPEs and medicine. We need a supply chain and pharmaceutical factories here so when their is a deadly virus outbreak where China can't stop exporting the supplies and India can't stop exports of drugs. There are other considerations than just cheap labor. Some company replying to us that they are having supply chain issues isn't good enough in a pandemic where people are dying.

Lots of people. People with bad credit for example. People who don't trust banks or want to at least see the check first. People trying to hide money from their spouses or significant others.

Non-accountants tend to assume we are all tax accountants. Which is a bit like assuming all musicians play the piano.

And then again it may have been a response to being told I could e-file when I know I can't.

That’s just it. Companies out there make it simple to do this.

                • The U.S. mortgage finance system could collapse if the Federal Reserve doesn’t step in with emergency loans tooffset a coming wave of missed payments from borrowers crippled by the coronavirus pandemic.

Congress did not include relief for the mortgage industry in its $2 trillion rescue package — even as lawmakers required mortgage companies to allow homeowners up to a year's delay in making payments on federally backed loans.

                  • LMFAO!! Trump wants his signature on the stimulus checks. No... I’m sure this has nothing at all to do with running for re-election.

Just as his desire to re-open the economy by April 12 has zero to do with his stated desire: to see churches filled to the brim for Easter.

How can Trump’s supporters not see through these obviously disingenuous gestures? What’s it gonna take?

Trump made it approximately 16 months before political expediency became primary criteria. I had hoped for 2 years. Oh well.

Well, he said yesterday he has zero intention of complying with the law requiring him to show transparency in how the $500 billion slush fund is managed.

The special inspector general, as authorized within the bill, would be able to request information from government agencies and report on failures to comply with those information requests. In his signing statement, Trump essentially stated that he will not let such reports reach Congress without his approval, which many fear directly undermines the provision’s goal of maintaining transparency in how that fund is handled.

Over/Under on the amount Trump directs to his own company? I'll start at $400 million.

Not sure how that would work. Most people know he has been a lifelong Democrat.
