  • DNC members discuss rules change to stop Sanders at convention

A small group of Democratic National Committee members has privately begun gauging support for a plan to potentially weaken Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign and head off a brokered convention.

In conversations on the sidelines of a DNC executive committee meeting and in telephone calls and texts in recent days, about a half-dozen members have discussed the possibility of a policy reversal to ensure that so-called superdelegates can vote on the first ballot at the party’s national convention. Such a move would increase the influence of DNC members, members of Congress and other top party officials, who now must wait until the second ballot to have their say if the convention is contested.

Why can't people just understand that they won't vote for a socialist? They really want a neoliberal. The DNC proved that in 2016 and they'll do so again in 2020 if they have to.

Fuck off fBernie Bros - if Bernie wants to run as a Democrat - he should become a democrat first.

Bernie gets beat by Trump because Trump is going to paint him as a socialist and people like Dynasty don't know what Socialism means so they are going to vote for Trump. SOmoene who disses the military and raids the treasury.

Hey Biased Hawkeye - our only iowa person on this board - please get your people to vote for Mayor Pete

The Democratic National Committee is drastically revising its criteria to participate in primary debates after New Hampshire, doubling the polling threshold and eliminating the individual donor requirement, which could pave the way for former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg to make the stage beginning in mid-February.

Candidates will need to earn at least 10 percent in four polls released from Jan. 15 to Feb. 18, or 12 percent in two polls conducted in Nevada or South Carolina, in order to participate in the Feb. 19 debate in Las Vegas. Any candidate who earns at least one delegate to the national convention in either the Iowa caucuses or New Hampshire primary will also qualify for the Nevada debate.

But DPR says the DNC doesn't rig the primaries.

How is this being rigged? Six people are asking Perez to change the rules to allow superdelegates to vote on the first ballot. Perez issued a statement saying he has no intentions of changing that rule.

So, what is the story here?

If they fuck over Bernie again, they can kiss any chance of winning in 2020 goodbye. Bernie Bros will absolutely vote Trump out of spite.

I was extremely disappointed in how Bernie cucked out and supported Hillary in 2016. I think he lost a lot of respect from his supporters when he did that.

This is a nothing burger right now, but if they do change rules to benefit certain candidates that’s bullshit. Super delighted are dumb in general.

The DNC gave Hilary too much power at the DNC last time. The result was the mouth breather in chief we have now. Don’t make the same mistake, please.

                      Nice strawman.

Absolutely not. We put in the work to ensure power was returned to the grassroots, we will be following the rules set forth by the DNC. We will not bend on this, we will not change our rules.
From the DNC chair's Twitter. Who is being more ridiculous here, the people claiming the DNC is rigging the primary because 6 people asked them to change the rules (which they refused to do) or the people pointing out that they are not changing the rules and this is a nonstory?

They offered the same to Bernie's camp sans I think 1 staffing hire veto.

He ran as a Democrat. I have a bigger problem with the way Jill Stein acted in the aftermath of the election.

Trump is going to win against Bernie - guaranteed - so bernie bros can fuck off with their threats.

Just like Trump took over the republican party even though he was never a republican - I don't want Bernie taking over the Democratic party after never being a democrat.

I would suggest that Bernie run as an independent - make Tulsi is running mate and that gives people like Spartan and Fuq to vote for that pair.
