When it's past of a conscious action knowing that it will result in the death of others, no, I don't. Please explain manslaughter laws to me as well. Thank you.

So what all are we banning with this little philosophy of yours? Pretty much all transportation is gone, because it inevitably kills some people. Next we have most forms of medical treatment and technology, because even doctors can’t avoid killing people sometimes even why trying to save them. Oh, and you better not have sex either. We wouldn’t want you getting AIDS/HIV or God forbid impregnating and in turn killing some poor woman who will die in child birth.

      Your argument sucks, try again.

Because going back to work is knowingly putting at-risk people in danger.
My point is, living life is knowingly putting at risk people in danger in all sorts of ways. I can say with almost 100% certainty that this forced isolation and the subsequent unemployment will result in more suicides than coronavirus will kill, where’s the outcry over that? We have sympathy for 76 year old Ethel but not the 27 year old Uber driver? Fuck off.

        • I think the thing the “open America back up “ people don’t get is not just could 3 million die but if/when that happens the economy will also go to shit.

I disagree. I’ve spent some time thinking about it, and I actually think this could be a big boost. Think about it, what age group is most likely to die from this disease? Boomers. If a shit load of boomers die, their property becomes available and suddenly housing isn’t as much of an issue as it was before. We also might be able to trim a little fat from the budget in the form of pensions/SS/Medicare.

I’m just saying, look at the silver lining.

This is a crime. It's not my argument that it should be a crime. It is the case. Driving is a normal course of human behavior. An accident involving a fatality during normal driving is not a criminal act. Driving while under the influence of an intoxicant is a special course of human behavior. An accident involving a fatality during intoxicated driving is criminal manslaughter unless you're wealthy.

Does my analogy make sense to you?

Okay, feel free to lock up everybody who’s ever had a contagious disease that spread it to someone either directly or indirectly that ended up dying. The entire U.S. population is now in prison.

Spreading disease is a normal course of human behavior too, dude. We’re social animals that live in close proximity to one another in large communities, that require close cooperation to survive and thrive. You’re reaching so hard right now your fucking arm is about to detach from your body.

You're arguing that to me? Really? My normal position is that businesses should be required to provide paid sick leave to employees and that the government should provide free healthcare to all humans in this country. It's the prevailing capitalist mentality that encourages this spread of disease.

This disease is particularly infectious, lethal, and unpreventable through vaccination. This amounts to willfully causing death through irresponsible actions on a grand scale. Capitalism in a nutshell.

It’s easy to try and claim the moral high ground by saying people should be entitled to X, Y, or Z, it’s a lot harder to explain yourself when that philosophy fails you and people suffer due to a shortage in services and supplies and the country collapses. Health care is a right in Venezuela, how’s that working out for them? Are the doctors there still being encouraged to lie about the cause of death of their citizens to try and hide the government’s ineptitude? If capitalism kills people, socialism annihilates them.

We’re about three/four months into this now and the reported global death toll is 20,000. Just out of curiosity, how many people do you think have died globally in that span of time from something other than COVID-19? Just take a guess, no googling.

You're as bad as SCT bringing up a failed state as your straw man every time somebody criticizes your economic system of choice. Why not talk about how Cuba is handling it? Is it because you've realized that your position is morally bankrupt?

150,000 people die daily normally. What, other than selfishness, makes you so comfortable with adding to that number?

Huge false equivalency here. You’re smarter than this. There was like one case of it Here in Jan and now there are 68k cases. How many of these other diseases have grown as exponentially as that? We’ll be at 200k at least by the end of next week.

Yeah, I keep hearing about how we’re going to have this massive death toll, and yet it never seems to actually happen. Shit, the entirety of Gen Z has gone to seemingly every beach in America, fucked like animals, and returned home by now and we’re still sitting on like 1k deaths? I believed the hype for a minute, but at this point, the whole thing is starting to look like mass hysteria to me. We’ll know who’s right in 6-12 months, I guess.

Are they still killing people and selling their blood on the black market over there? Real paragons of virtue, those Cubans.

How many of those people were on death’s door anyway? Oh, most of them? Funny that you left that little bit of information out, it’s almost like you want this crisis to continue because it furthers your political agenda.

People die all the time. Nobody likes it, but life goes on for the living regardless. This isn’t the bubonic plague or the Spanish flu, it’s a shitty cold with a death rate of like 3% that mostly kills people who were going to die soon anyway. Stop being dramatic and get back to work.

That happened less a week ago and this shit take two weeks to take full effect.

And it won’t hit that number because we already put safety ahead of it. That’s the thing. The same people who say the projections are bullshit are the same people who will declare victory when the projections aren’t close to being hit because we took precautions. The scientific projects have been correct so far, and if nothing was changed chances they’d probably of continued to have been correct.
