      Another year of being overrated.

Good timing for us since Jammie Robinson, our best DB, announced he was going pro although he is a safety. We also got good news though in that Fabien Lovett is returning at DT for his senior year (his injury cost us during the 3 game losing streak mid season).

Fentrell Cypress is an All-ACC corner from UVA and was also being recruited by Ohio State, LSU and UCLA.

If we can get Jared Verse back at DE and maybe a good Safety from the portal then we will be loaded next year. I think we may need some more DE depth as the room is still a little young though.
Jared Verse just announced he is returning. We are going to see a lot of preseason hype entering next season. An ACC title game appearance at the very least and a CFP playoff appearance at the most could be possible. Hard to say too much though since other schools can add transfers or lose players from now until then and we still have to hire a new DB Coach (hopefully a solid HS recruiter). Either way, this is the most excitement around the program since the Winston era.

A bunch of players from different schools are transferring to Auburn. The transfer portal is weird.

FSU raids South Carolina yet again to take 4 star DE Gilber Edmond. He is 6'5 250lbs and should complement Jared Verse well. I honestly don't know why we are picking so much on South Carolina. I am sorry Gyle. You guys have SEC money. Why are your boosters not paying these kids to stay?

Couldn't let FSU have all the fun. We just picked up a former 5* edge from South Carolina, Jordan Burch.

Sounds like a talented kid but for whatever reason hasn't reached his potential and might be a bit of a tweener in terms of his position.

A couple of other things of note.

                  1. Tampering/Tampering allegations. Almost every player that Oregon is getting opposing teams message boards are full of "TAMPERING! NIKE MONEY!!"... (For whatever reason, Iowa fans were the most angry, and you have your usual UW/OSEWE fans tagging along).

Based on Mack Brown/Pat Narduzzi, etc.; Mario Cristobal's crew at Miami are absolutely sending bag men to tamper.

Which begs the question, are there any actual RULES about tampering? If it's bag men, how could that even be enforced?Especially since the NCAA has basically said fuck it on the business of enforcement.

                  2. It looks like the NCAA is cracking down on people who are transferring multiple times:
College football rankings: Georgia finishes unanimous No. 1, Ohio State at No. 2 in postseason CBS Sports 131

Apologies to JT Daniels, who will not be eligible for his 11th transfer next season.

Tampering is absolutely going on but everyone is doing it. Can't really truly police it. Players talk to each other and recruit each other.
Miami supposedly was going to buy FSU's young 2nd-3rd string DL (2-3 players) to entice their best DT to not transfer to FSU (Darrell Jackson) but it failed ultimately. It was wild to think someone could pay for multiple members of a roster to transfer to help build familiarity. Norvell thankfully is very culture-oriented and now that we are winning games it is helping us retain talent at a lower cost (familiarity, team chemistry, chance to have a great 2023 trumping a less stable but higher paying alternative option). I am wondering if the Miami experiment will end up like aTm did this year.

I'm sure we have fans who are getting in on it because Burch signing with us was based largely on staying close to home lol

                        • I know we had a big day with our #1 wr target in the Thornton kid from Oregon, OT from Miami that chose us over Florida and a DL from Arizona State.

Thornton is a stud. Hands are a little inconsistent, but if he gets that down, easy day 2 NFLguy.

I think he picked a good offense for himself. Hyatt had hands problems last year as well.
