LSU fans have a borderline incestuous delusion that LSU can simply recruit Louisiana players only and win national titles. They think that every single Louisiana HS player is automatically better than every other player ever in the history of ever in every other state. If you look into the story of a kid named Lindsey Scott, you'll see just how royally he got fucked over by "state loyalty". It gets fucking annoying.

That extends to coaching hires too. I mean for fuck's sake, there are LSU fans running around seriously foaming at the mouth because LSU hasn't already hired Billy Napier to replace Ed O.

There is a high degree of state loyalty, which can be used to great effect. But I really don't care if the kid is from Baton Rouge or Beirut. If he can football, I want him here. Bonus points if he is an OL.

I can see the bad side of it. I am just jealous that Florida is getting raided on the regular by Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and recently OU. FSU depends a lot on South GA and Florida recruiting to do well but it has been harder to compete financially (SEC money) in the bag wars. You at least have somewhat of a security blanket in State loyalty that might trump a higher bid amount for a recruit.

Schools dont recruit themselves. That concept is a myth. You still have to put in an amount of effort, even if you are the biggest kid on the block in your state.

Take Travis Ettiene for example. LSU lollygagged around with him while they were chasing Cam Akers. When Akers fell through, LSU thought that they could just "get" Ettiene because he was from dowm the road. That backfired spectacularly.

Being the only big dog in a talent rich state is absolutely an advantage, but it still requires work and effort to utilizr that advantage.
