With less than a month until the May Evaluation Period, both college programs and recruiting sites alike are gearing up for a hectic couple of months. While the majority of the attention will be on finalizing grades for the Class of 2009, programs are also trying to identify and get a head start on those elite players in the following recruiting cycle. In fact, many of the nation's best juniors-to-be are already garnering major attention following stellar sophomore seasons, which is when colleges begin to take notice. Although there's still another seven months before players in the Class of 2010 can begin receiving written offers, verbal offers and written interest are being used liberally nowadays, because of the evaluation period being moved up almost a full calendar year, a direct correlation of the internet recruiting boom. And with that increased exposure, we can usually gauge who the highest regarded players in each class will be following their sophomore seasons. For example, 24 of the top 25 rated players in the current 2009 Rivals100 were either all-district or all-county and on the national radar as a sophomore, the lone exception being Corona Centennial LB Vontaze Burfict, who was academically ineligible for his sophomore season. The following is a position-by-poisition breakdown of how the Class of 2010 looks to be shaping up, and who to follow during the in-season of recruiting.
